Safety & Policies

Your safety is our number one priority

Policy Documents

Read our policy documents below or download the PDF versions. These are provided to help schools with their due diligence and educational visits planning. All policies are reviewed annually.

Our comprehensive risk assessment covers all aspects of camping, trekking, and outdoor expedition activities. The 16-page document includes detailed hazard analysis with control measures across four sections:

  • Accommodation & Venue — fire safety, slips/trips/falls, access by others, breakable items, balconies, catering, toilets, equipment storage
  • Walking — road safety, pedestrian hazards, collision risk, animals on route
  • Trekking — terrain assessment, river crossings, injuries, bites and stings, wild animals, weather exposure, lost persons
  • General Considerations — medical conditions, safeguarding, transport, emotional wellbeing, swimming, water activities

Each hazard is assessed using a Likelihood x Severity matrix, rated before and after control measures are applied. The document also includes site photographs from pre-visits documenting key areas referenced in the assessment.

This document should be reviewed and adapted by the visiting school's Trip Leader and Educational Visits Coordinator to reflect the specific needs of their group.

This document is 16 pages with detailed risk tables and site photographs. Please download the PDF for the complete assessment.
